My Guys

A player becomes a "my guy" if I watch their film and notice that their love for the game is evident throughout.  A lot of players take plays off, are inconsistent, and selfish when it comes to their roles. This list is comprised of guys that are just downright fun to watch, even on plays that aren't a part of her "highlights"

1 / Mike sainristil, DB, MICHIGAN

Sainristil is an incredibly scrappy, high energy defensive back. His energy just exudes out of him when you watch his tape. He is always around the football, and you can just tell he's constantly looking to lay someone out on any given play. He could be a decent outside corner, but you can tell he's grown the skillset required to be a slot corner because he loves being physical.

2 / COOPER DEJEAN, DB, IOWA

Cooper plays the game a lot like Sainristil. Both are extremely scrappy players. What separates Dejean is his ability to play both safety positions in addition to slot corner. He just has a nose for the football. Always a true leader on the field, Cooper is almost like an offensive player in that the defense flows through him. He ended up blowing everyone away at the scouting combine with his testing, which shouldn't be surprising given his reputation for being a weight room warrior.

3 / Johnny newton, DL, ILLINOIS

Now HERE is a fun player. While somewhat inconsistent and lacking in technical skills, Newton is a splash play merchant from the interior defensive line. Do yourself a favor and check out a highlight reel on YouTube. It's full of him wrecking offensive lineman and slicing through double teams with his explosiveness on the way to punishing a QB in the backfield. Like the previous two players, Newton clearly loves the game and is evidenced by his high motor on nearly every snap.
